Increase research visibility

Maintain your Scopus profile

As an author, you will automatically have an author profile if you have published twice in any journal indexed by Scopus (a multi-disciplinary citation database that indexes thousands of journals).

It is important that your Scopus author profile is up to date and accurate as it enables you, the University and other researchers to view your work and analyse data relating to your research outputs. The data within Scopus is also used by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) and the Times Higher Education (THE) rankings who assess the output of researchers and institutions. Data from Scopus is also harvested by Symplectic to populate research outputs in your Symplectic profile.

This page includes guidance on using Scopus as an author. Use the following links to navigate to the sections on this page:

Get access to Scopus

Go to the Scopus homepage and select ‘Sign in’ in the top-right corner to open a new page. Now click ‘Access through your organization’. Follow the on-page instructions to sign in.

To find your author profile, you can search using your name in the search bar'

You can use the ‘Add affiliation’ button and type in ‘University of Leeds’ to filter results.

Merge duplicate author profiles

You can merge your profiles together if you find you have more than one profile listed after your search for your name and institution.

Check each profile belongs to you by verifying the associated publications. Once you’ve identified your profiles, go to the author search results and use the checkboxes at the left-hand side of each result to select that profile. Now select ‘Request to merge authors’ from the top menu (screenshot one).

Add missing publications to Scopus

If items are missing from your profile, then you can find and add them by doing a document search.

You can only find documents that are indexed in Scopus so if the item you are missing has not been published in a Scopus journal, then it will not appear in this list. Check out Scopus’ list of indexed publications.

To find missing documents, go to your profile edit screen and select the ‘Are any documents missing?’ button (screenshot three).

A search bar will appear where you can search for your missing documents. There are several search fields that you can use to find publications (screenshot four).

Once you have found the missing document, click ‘Add to profile’. This will send a request to Scopus for this item to be added to your profile.

If you can’t find your publication by searching, then you can request for missing publications to be added to your profile.

Check the Scopus Content Policy to ensure your work meets the criteria to be indexed by Scopus. If the criteria is met, use the Scopus webform to submit a request for the content to be added. Read the Scopus guidance on adding a missing document for more information.
