Profile

I began my library career in public libraries, starting out as an assistant and eventually managing a volunteer-assisted branch library. It was in these roles that I developed my enthusiasm for reader development, collection development and stock management.

In 2015 I made the jump to academic libraries, taking up the role of Collections Project Coordinator at Royal Holloway, University of London. This involved managing and supporting projects preparing for the move of our collections to a brand new Library and Student Services Centre, which was completed in 2017. I then transitioned to the role of Metadata, Discovery and Analytics Coordinator, with responsibility for cataloguing, online catalogue, and management data.

During my time at RHUL I studied part time for my library master's degree from Robert Gordon University Aberdeen (awarded 2018), and took the Association for Project Management Project Management Qualification (APM-PMQ) and was awarded full APM membership (2019).

In 2019 I moved to the University of Leeds and the role of Collections Manager in the Collections Development and Mangement team. I was responsible for the Collection Management team and oversaw their work ensuring that our print material is findable on the shelves, stored appropriately and kept in good repair.

I also managed stock editing and conservation activities for our print collections, and managed a major project to comprehensively security tag our main print collections and replace our book sorters and self-service units.

I now manage the Collections Liaison Team. We work with colleagues in faculties and schools, and also with students, to understand their information resource needs.

We build relationships with suppliers so that we can advise on available content.

This enables us to acquire and manage appropriate content to support students and colleagues across the University.
